In 1992, a group of women wanted to address the needs of their peers. They created Femmes Francophones de l'Ouest du Labrador. These women, whose goal was to assist both the Francophonie and women and young women, created an organization that offered services and resources to promote and support these groups. The group was incorporated in 2004.
The group consists of a board of directors which includes a President, vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, administrator, and various representatives from various organizations such as the Alliance des femmes de la Francophonie canadienne (AFFC),
The organization's mandate is to represent the region's women and girls in order to offer them what they need to reach their full potential. The organization also offers Francophone women and girls the services and resources that will help them feel secure despite living in a minority environment.
Les Femmes francophones de l'Ouest du Labrador shares their knowledge about different projects and endeavours: poverty, violence, health, natural help, immigration, crafts and book club. They are also involved in the program Femmes passionnées.This program was created to give you encouragement, advices, tools and inspiration to achieve a dream or a project that means a lot to you.
